New Website coming soon and an update

Hi everyone, I’m just letting you all know that I will soon be launching my new website. As good as WordPress is, it’s not the easiest thing to edit and can be a bit unreliable at times.

As good as WordPress is, it’s not the easiest thing to edit and can be a bit unreliable at times. I tried out a few different cms’s and have settled for Wix. Editing the site will be a lot easier and I can some cool little extras that hopefully should help me promote and sell my work.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to transfer the current URL over to Wix to avoid any confusion. I’m hoping to launch the new site by the end of the month, just need to optimise it for SEO purposes and make sure it’s looking good.

Other News

Danon’s free run has come to an end. It did ok which is surprising due to the lack of promotion I did for it. Next up in my sale will be Unconquered: Blood of Kings. If you’re a fan of historical fiction you should check it out.

Following on from that will be the discounts on my Terran Defenders series. Keep checking the Facebook and Twitter pages for updates on that.

Writing Progress

Writing book 3 in the Sundered Crown Saga is continuing and a slow and steady pace. After a few alterations of rewrites of some of the early chapters, I think I’m heading in the right direction. I’m hoping to get a first draft finished this year, but its looking more likely early next year. A release date is a loose Spring 2017.

As well as writing Quest I’ve begun work on a new fantasy project. I’m really excited about the story and will be revealing more information about it over the comings months.

TERRAN DEFENDERS – PRE-ORDER NOW!

Here it is folks my latest book! I really enjoyed writing this one, creating the world and characters was a lot of fun. You can read the synopsis below. I really hope that you will get a copy and enjoy it as much as I did writing it.

Terran Defenders

The year is 2396, mankind has spread among the stars and mingled with the galaxy’s many alien races.

Humanity’s golden age ended in the fires of civil war a decade earlier. An uneasy peace remains between the government of the Earth-based United World Alliance and the Colonial Federation, a group of colonies seeking the freedom to forge their own path. With humankind scarred by the brutal conflict things that should never have been forgotten were lost.
In the fighting, the order of the Terran Defenders was wiped out and with them the knowledge that a deadly old enemy still lingers in the depths of space. With the Terran Defenders no longer in existence, it will fall upon a motley band of misfits and outcasts to take up the legendary order’s mantle and save the Galaxy or die trying.

Mase, a bounty hunter more interested in money and loose women finds himself taking on the job from hell when he and his robot partner JERRY are sent after a mysterious bounty. Their target, a beautiful yet deadly woman named Kara Brighte, the granddaughter of the last Terran Defender.

Update on Works in Progress

Hi everyone, just thought that I would post a quick update on where I am with my current works in progress.

Quest for the Sundered Crown

Book 3 in the Sundered Crown Saga is coming along slowly but surely and I am still hoping to get a first draft finished by the end of Autumn. If all goes well with editing and rewrites it should hopefully be ready for release at the end of this year! I can’t give too much away about the plot but, needless to say, it is a story full of action, adventure and dragons!

The Nightblade (working title)

The tale of Ferran of BlackMoor and his mentor Alther is getting close to completion. If you follow me on Wattpad you can read the unedited draft so far. I’ve really enjoyed writing this story and the end is in sight. I’m hoping to get the first draft finished this summer and then aiming to get it released for the Autumn.

Terran Defenders

This book did really well on Wattpad. After some thinking, the title is now simply Terran Defenders and is the first book in the main series. TD:Genesis is now a standalone prequel story. My fellow Firebound author Rob May is currently helping me get the cover right and I will be revealing it very soon! The book itself will be published over the next few weeks so keep your eyes out for updates.

New map!

Also if you follow my Facebook page you will have seen some the maps that my wife Chloe has been making for the Sundered Crown Books. I’m hoping to get some artwork onto the site soon too. Check it out below!

Writing Quest Part 2

Hi everyone it’s week 2 of my writing Quest for the Sundered Crown series of blog posts (new one every week).

A Balancing Act

Well…er…where to begin. This week has pretty much been a total write off in terms of making progress on the book. Thankfully this wasn’t down to the dreaded writers block, but by my day job (I write for an actual job too, nuts right?) It has pretty much consumed my life the past few weeks and with deadlines looming, all other writing has had to take a back burner. Making a few trips to London on the train for meetings I did think about trying to get some of the book done then, but to my horror I have discovered that trying to type on a moving train actually makes me feel violently ill.

Despite the lack of progress when it comes to words I did make some progress on my plan for the book. I’ve switched what I had intially written as chapter 1 to chapter 2 and have an idea of how to get the book off to a good start. I’m still not sure on the prologue so that will most likely change too.

One good thing however is that its the weekend and I’ve caught up with all of my other work, so from Saturday I can fully focus on putting more words down for Quest.

blog

In other news the release date for Danon is drawing closer! Remember to sign up to my newsletter to get a free copy of the book. If you don’t want to do that then you can pre-order it from Amazon now.

As well as that, work is progressing well on my other book in the works; The Nightblade, which I’m hoping will be released sometime in the summer.

Look out for a review for Heir to the Sundered Crown on Wednesday. The kind folks at ElevenMedia have agreed to write up a review of the book. Can’t wait to see what they have to say…unless its bad…that would be bad…. 😦

Next week I am determined to get at least another chapter finished, I shall not be distracted!

In the meantime why not check out my other books?

New 5-Star Review of Heir to the Sundered Crown!

A fantastic review for my book 🙂
stars-5-0._V192197110_
5.0 out of 5 stars A new Tolkien?, 24 Oct. 2015
By Sue Denim
This review is from: Heir to the Sundered Crown (The Sundered Crown Saga Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
I’m an old school Tolkien, Tennyson, Coleridge, Wodehouse etc. fan and usually can’t be bothered reading anything modern. I read this from cover to cover in two days. It has all the ingredients that I enjoy, including an engaging storyline with a plethora of well thought out characters. In fact a whole world with its own history, geography, kingdoms, tribes, cultures and geopolitics. The author clearly has an understanding of people, politics, martial arts, martial strategy and many other things that constitute worlds, whether they be real or imaginary.
There is a flavour of Middle Earth, Arthurian legend, Merlin, Mabinogion, Grimoire, Bestiarum Vocabulum, creation myth, and more. I have to take issue with the reviewer who describes his experience of this work as spoiled due to cliché, grammatical and spelling errata (suggesting that others should avoid reading the book due to this). If love, war, triumph and disaster are perceived by some as cliché then they are deserving of our sympathy.
There were minor grammatical issues and Americanisms in the version I read, but were many to choose between format perfection and the rarity of a lively and engaging story, well told; the latter would triumph every time. Similarly the use of extensive vocabulary did not suggest any clumsy use of the thesaurus, just a command of an extended vocabulary. The grammar issues can easily be fixed, just take someone with grade A English from Oxford or Cambridge and set them to work. Shakespeare and Chaucer predated the grammar Czars and persist; I’d prefer a literary sirloin steak in brown paper to a literary “big-mac” dolloped on a grammatical silver platter. Creeping Americanism has existed pre-Wodehouse (they actually put their tea in a bag!). I think it’s best to accept evolution and not spill one’s Bordeaux over a pleonasm or split infinitive to immerse oneself in a well crafted fantastical world. Let’s not consign this rising author to the dustbin.
Enjoy the subterfuge, the tides of battle, envelop yourselves in the developing parallel storylines. Knights, witches, barons, kings, dragons, maidens, werewolves, banshees, castles and citadels await!. The author has created a solid foundation for all manner of future adventures, much as Tolkien did. I look forward to experiencing them and so should you.
